The most influential people of Russia 2018, Forbes rating

“They consider chickens in the fall,” experts of the Russian Forbes magazine decided, and in early September presented the Russians with a list the most influential people of Russia in 2018.

When separating the impostors from the titans, the magazine used the following methodology:

  • First, the experts chose the most-most, all the color of the Russian influential elite. That is, everyone who has huge money and power in Russian society holds a high administrative post and also takes part in the government of the country. As a result, one and a half thousand people gathered.
  • Since they had different fields of activity, they had to divide the participants into several categories and already arrange competitions within this same category. For example, the governor was evaluated in terms of the effectiveness of managing the area entrusted to him, namely how much GRP it produces. And some financier was evaluated by how much money he had.
  • Although the degree of influence of the participants in the list is difficult to evaluate in solid units, however, it was also taken into account.
  • Also, Forbes experts, who understand well how things are going in Russia, have introduced another important category - the degree of closeness to the upper ranks in general and the president in particular.
  • Measuring the degree of proximity was easier than it sounds. If a businessman is invited to the Kremlin, where he pens with Putin himselfthat means he gets extra points. If a government official belongs to you know what party, then his chances to get into the first hundred of the most influential people in the country look much more optimistic.

The top ten leaders of the country looks quite predictable, especially considering that, according to the American version of the magazine, Vladimir Vladimirovich is the second most influential person in the world. True, national pride is hurt by the fact that, after five years of unconditional leadership, GDP has lost the lead to the head of China, Xi Jinping. We assume that this was done by Vladimir Vladimirovich because of natural modesty and as a favor to a neighbor.

The rest of the places were distributed predictably - mainly in the top ten are representatives of state-owned companies, especially their oil and gas companies. For example:

  • Alexey Miller (the head of Gazprom and a fan of the Zenit football club, whose main sponsor is Gazprom);
  • Igor Sechin (Director of Rosneft; we hope that the divorce and loss of Bentley’s beloved didn’t give him a bad shot);
  • Oleg Belozerov (responsible for Russian Railways).

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev takes the honorable fifth place. Private capital in the top ten is also represented. As you probably guessed, these are the heads of large oil and gas companies, Surgutneftegaz and Lukoil. Surprisingly, despite the overwhelming predominance in the list of men, one woman made it into the top 10. This is Elvira Nabiullina, the chairman of the Bank of Russia, which regularly publishes a bank reliability rating.
